This project involved the redevelopment of a group of 15 buildings located at the former Northumbria Police Headquarters site in Ponteland. Originally, these buildings were part of the Ponteland Cottage Homes complex, providing housing for orphans and children from impoverished families in the early 20th century. Of the 15 buildings, 14 have been granted Grade II listed status, recognising their historical significance as early 20th-century childcare facilities.
Over the years, the buildings have been repurposed, including their use as part of the Northumberland College of Education and later as operational and training facilities for Northumbria Police. The proposal aimed to sympathetically restore the listed buildings, converting them for use as residential accommodation.
