We were appointed by SSE to prepare and submit applications for Solar Car Ports at two sites in Monmouthshire. The applications are part of the Monmouthshire County Council Re:fit programme. The Re:fit programme is a procurement initiative for public bodies wishing to implement energy efficiency measures and local energy generation projects on their assets. These measures improve the energy performance of assets. As a result, carbon emissions can be reduced, substantial guaranteed annual cost savings achieved, and income generated.
The array at Chepstow will be capable of generating a total energy production of 114.24kW to serve the energy requirements of Chepstow Comprehensive School and Chepstow Leisure Centre reduce demand from the National Grid. This will supply approximately 16% of the school and leisure centre needs. The arrays at Innovation House will be capable of generating a total energy production of 14.28kW to serve the building and reduce demand from the National Grid. The units would supply approximately 11% of Innovations House’ existing demand.
The developments forms part of the Council’s Climate and Decarbonisation Strategy (2019) which seeks to reduce the Council’s carbon emissions to zero by 2030.
