We successfully secured planning permission for the creation of three self-catering tourist apartments within an existing stone barn in the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. With limited electricity available to the farm, the successful application included two 6kW pole mounted wind turbines and battery storage to serve the tourist accommodation.
In a highly visible location in the national park the application was required to be accompanied by a landscape and visual assessment, bat assessment, and impact appraisal on the historic and architectural features of the 19th century barn to be converted. We commissioned consultants to prepare these assessments to the satisfaction of the National Park Authority. The apartments have been completed and the turbines have been operating successfully for a number of years.
