Successful Appeal Win for The Dyvels Hotel, Corbridge
We’re delighted to share another successful result for our clients.
We have supported Punch Pubs and Wakefields Chartered Building Surveyors in appealing a refusal of a retrospective application to retain a pergola within the existing beer garden of The Dyvels Hotel in Corbridge.
We worked closely with our clients to build a robust case for a written representations appeal against the Council’s decision. This involved:
- Addressing the host building’s inclusion in the Local Register of Historic Buildings
- Considering the proximity of a nearby Grade II Listed Building
- Undertaking a detailed photographic survey to provide clear supporting evidence
The appeal was subsequently allowed, with the Planning Inspector concluding that the pergola would not constitute inappropriate development in the Green Belt. The structure was found to be inconspicuous in appearance and a subservient addition to the property.
In addition to overturning the refusal, we were pleased to secure a partial award of costs for our client.
This outcome demonstrates the value of great collaboration between our clients and our experienced team.
