In partnership with SLC Property, we were successful in obtaining planning permission for the construction of two new railway stations to serve Willenhall and Darlaston, on the Wolverhampton and Walsall railway line.
Our commission for the West Midlands Combined Authority included negotiating a section 106 legal agreement for off-site works, leading all engagement with the local planning authority and other key stakeholders, including strategic management and delivery of a pre-planning public and stakeholder engagement.
Both sites are located within areas at high risk of flooding, therefore extensive engagement with the Environment Agency, Lead Local Flood Authority, Local Planning Authority and the project’s drainage engineers was required to ensure that appropriate flood mitigation measures were incorporate into the scheme designs.
We were able to present a robust case to demonstrate the significant benefits that the proposals would deliver to the local community, culminating in each of the Darlaston and Willenhall station schemes receiving unanimous approval at planning committee.
We are supporting the contractor in managing the discharge of planning conditions. The stations are currently under construction.
