Good news, Installing domestic air source heat pumps just got easier.
In their ‘Warm Homes Plan’ , the Government have announced an ambition to deliver cleaner and cheaper heating for millions of homes. One of the mechanisms through which they are assisting is by changing planning rules to make it simpler for an increased number of homes to install air source heat pumps without planning permission.
This includes removing a rule which prevents heat pumps from being installed without planning permission where the heat pump is within one meter of a neighbouring property. The change is expected to benefit millions of households, particularly those in densely populated areas.
At EP we welcome any changes which support the pursuit of net zero. However, homeowners must be mindful of over restrictions surrounding works which can be undertaken without planning permission, such as any proposals to be located in certain Conservation Areas.
EP have extensive experience in navigating the complexities of permitted development rights and advising clients on the best strategy for their property.
If you need any assistance navigating the opportunities and restrictions associated with the installation of heat pumps or solar panels, please do not hesitate to contact us.
